An education is not about how much we know but, it is about knowing to make the difference between what we know and what we don't.
For the longest human beings have tried, learnt, discovered and compiled quantities of knowledge all over the world. We always have interest in fields that contribute for the access and integration in our contemporary world. This is maybe the reason why people through times develop distinct levels of sciences and mechanics relevant for their needs and survivals. As well as days changes, societies, people and needs change. The conscience of our limits incites our perpetual need to prospect new areas of knowledge. This awareness pairs with the holistic concept of education. Our presence at this course contributes for the same quest for constant updating ourselves to reinforce the adequateness of our responses to our world and our teaching environment requests.
I reiterate my gratefulness to the U.S. Department of State and the University of Oregon Linguistics Department and the American English Institute (UO AEI), the American embassy of Burkina Faso and the local American cultural Center for the grant of scholarship to attend the training for teachers' professional development at the Winter 2013 ‘Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web’ course. This is a rare occasion a teacher of my modest condition could be offered to update her skills in order to offer better competitive services. I cannot help to mention special support from wonderful ladies like Lynn OUEDRAOGO, Cevia YELIN and Courtney Cunningham.
In 2007 I was granted a scholarship from the Swiss NGO ENFANTS DU MONDE operating in West Africa for a Master Degree in EDUCATION SCIENCES AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT. From October 2007 through May 2010 I completed the work fully in French both in Ouagadougou and Geneva. It has been a very rewarding experience though the inter linguistic gap( between English and French) I was convinced of the existence of many common academic stakes. Since then, I definitely wanted to bring some changes to the ways I conduct teaching and learning as I found lot in our current practices and tools needed renovation. My French teaching colleagues were ahead in implementing their findings, and I was striving to fabricate new methods referring to principles deriving from teaching and learning theories among others Vygotskian principles in a genre based approach to teaching the skills of writing, reading, speaking and listening.
I hope in this course to learn with mates through their experiences, practices and suggestions so as I can rethink or validate my approach to teaching and also to benefit from the resources and model tools provided at the occasion.
